2021 Summer Holiday Kids Dance Program at Te Oro with Chris Ofanoa

Pacific Dance NZ in conjunction with Te Oro Arts Centre in Glen Innes provides a FREE Kids Dance program in January annually.

This program is ideal for those parents who are at odds as to what to do with the children during the holidays before school starts back.  The summer kids dance programs are a hit with parents as not only is it a 2 week comprehensive program from 10am – 4pm daily, but lunch is also sponsored.

This year’s tutor was well known choreographer, dancer and creative Chris Ofanoa who is currently with Fresh Movement.  Chris is also a well known hip hop dancer but as a performing arts graduate from Unitec he has also done contemporary dance and ballet.  He has been with the NZ Dance company and was a finalist for the prestigious 2016–17 Rolex Mentor and Protégé Arts Initiative.

Chris utilised the full 2 weeks with the children going through dance sequences and movements to popular music that culminated in an end of course performance in the large performance space at Te Oro.  The kids were in fine form and the look on their faces said to us they enjoyed their time.  An absolute steal for these kids to be able to dance with one of NZ’s top dancers.

We received glowing feedback from the parents who raved about Te Oro with its friendly staff and environment, to Chris’ patience with children and of course the opportunity to be able to offer this for the kids.

Te Oro Arts Centre in Glen Innes is central enough for parents to access and they also provide a safe and inclusive environment that is not only encouraging but conducive for the children to learn, explore and express themselves through dance.  The children
